While the focus of our trip was the Great Migration and its mammals we did see many of Africa’s great birds. We saw one of Catherine’s favorite birds, and one of Africa’s most striking, the Southern Ground Hornbill
We also saw a Kingfisher displaying
and a Secretary Bird hunting (and catching) insects
And most dramatic of all was while we were looking for cheetahs we saw a grass owl about 10 feet away, and before we knew it a martial eagle grabbed it and flew away with it.
While birds are great hunters, cats hunting are more dramatic as you can see here
It was a fantastic trip and we can’t wait until our next adventure to Greece and Italy this winter.
